Phita is part of life and culture of the Bengali people. This year with the advent of winter and cold waves in New Zealand, it reminds us our traditional শীতের পিঠা (Shiter Pitha- winter Bengali homemade cakes)! English: Cake and Maori: Te keke) is an indigenous food item that is nationally popular, common in Bangladesh and neighbouring regions. Pithas are popular all over the region and each area has its unique type of pithas. Sometimes the same pitha has different names in different areas. Some pithas are nationally known and familiar to all. Some are made throughout the year but some are seasonal.
BNZFS is organising this event to keep this tradition alive and convey the glory of it to the successive generations and share with wider communities in New Zealand. This event allows the participants and attendees to interact and mingle with each other in Bengali ambience and to experience our true Bengali culture with festive mood!!
There will a number pitha stalls, pitha making workshop and lots more in the event!!
You can try and buy the very best homemade authentic Bangladeshi pithas from the stalls!!
Please join us in this Pitha Utshob event!!
